It depends on if you have anything to say. Tom Siddell adds a pointless comment after every Gunnerkrigg Court and I hate it, it’s the worst part of the comic.
I’ve seen comics where the author’s notes turned into entertaining mini-blogs. I’ve also seen comics where the author’s notes devolved into single-word comments. (Usually ‘butts’.) The good ones are a window into the author’s personality, helping foster a sense of community with the readers.
Anyway, I’m rambling. Personally, I like it when authors comment on their own stuff. But do whatever you’re comfortable with.
I always check for secret mouse-over text. I think it’s cool when the author makes jokes about a particular facet of the strip, points out something notable or a hidden jem/easter egg, or even just remind us about your other material coming out right now.
